This painting, done in the late 80's on site, shows the old mechanical lifting bridge juxtaposed against the new city outline taking shape in the distance - tall glass 'skyscrapers' that started a whole renovation of buildings along the north side of the river Liffey. The lifting bridge, (I don't know if it has a special name), is still there, but I don't think it's operational now for manys the year.
